World Education Services (WES) has introduced new policies for candidates seeking relocation to Canada. The new guidelines make it simple for settlers to expedite ECA for Canadian relocation. The Canadian relocation administration assigns World Education Services (WES) for academic evaluation. So, an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) is essential for several immigration routes into Canada, which also includes Express Entry.
World Education Service (WES) declared in December that, in several situations, it only needs settlers to present their highest educational certificates. The two exemptions to the new procedures are the French- language and the Indian certificates. Using the new policies, forwarding all academic certificates with the highest one may delay the assessment procedures.
“In November 2020, World Education Service (WES) candidates are required to accommodate only their highest concluded educational certificates for an ECA,” the institution’s website announces. “if you forward extra certificates to World Education Service, it may slow down the completion of your report.”
International citizens are required to expedite ECA when they conclude their school outside Canada and desire to:
- Be eligible as the main candidate for Express Entry.
- Achieve points for an academic they acquired outside Canada.
International citizens can also obtain additional points for their mate’s academic if they come to Canada.
Exemptions to New Educational Credentials Assessment (ECA)
World Education Service (WES) modified its procedures for ECA dovetails with new policies from Canadian immigration administrations. On their web page, IRCC now declares, “In most situations, you only require an evaluation for your highest level of educational teaching.”
This implies that an international national with a master’s program only requires an Educational Credentials Assessment for that program and not a bachelor’s program.
“Currently, there are four exemptions, and those exemptions apply to people with a master of philosophy, master of technology, master of education, and master of engineering program.”
Candidates for Canadian immigration are not required to obtain an ECA from organizations assigned by CIC if they:
- Possess a Canadian post-secondary academic certificate of a minimum of 12 months.
- They can demonstrate that they have a net worth of CAD 50 million or more obtained via legal investment exercises or private sector business and have applied for exceptions. All the Education Credentials Assessment (ECA) requires to:
- Possess a date of issue on or after the period in which CIC assigned the organization.
- Not less than five years old on the date that Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada obtains the application
- Indicate that the concluded international certificate equates to a concluded Canadian post-secondary certificate of at least one year.
These Educational Credential Assessments have to be provided by an organization or a skilled body assigned by Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada. There exist five assigned bodies to make these credentials evaluations in Canada. These are :

- International Qualification Assessment Services
- International Credential Assessment Service of Canada
- Comparative Education Service – University of Toronto School of Continuing Education
- World Education Service
Expertise arriving in Canada will have their educational certificates assessed by their different professional bodies in Canada. Educational Credential Assessments for physicians, for example, are carried out by the Medical Council of Canada. The Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada evaluates pharmacist Education credential assessments.
